Mum's The Word, starring Brooke Shields and Beau Bridges, was filmed in North Bay in October and November 2015.
This event happens once per semester and invites students to study, get research support, have snacks, make buttons, and, most importantly, stay at the Library till midnight!
Because nobody can be expected to think on an empty stomach!
Students were invited to create their own buttons with the Library's button maker.

Culture Days is is a national celebration of arts and culture. At the end of each September, millions of people attend thousands of free participatory arts and culture events across the country. Culture Days programs invite the public to get hands-on and behind-the-scenes to highlight the importance of arts and culture in our communities.
The Library was used as a staging area for the First Robotics Competition. The competition is an intense three-day event showcasing robots developed and operated by 35 teams of high school aged students from all over Ontario.
Freedom to Read Week is an annual event that encourages Canadians to think about and reaffirm their commitment to intellectual freedom.

The entire month of February is dedicated to the people who love whole buildings devoted to the reading, housing, organizing, categorizing, finding, studying and otherwise loving books.
National Canadian Film Day is a massive one-day, coast-to-coast-to-coast celebration of Canadian cinema.
These wonderful pups (and their amazing humans) began visiting the Library in 2017. Since staff and students alike could be found in the Library atrium surrounded by wagging tails, these days became known as "Waggin' Wednesdays."

Indigenous artist, Brenda Lee, leads a Wampum Belt beading workshop. These sessions provided a great opportunity to experience wampum belt beading and learn about the importance of wampum belts and the role they played in the history of Canada. These sessions began in 2016.
